Two dangerous goods classes cannot travel together
Why will the run board not let me load these together?
The ADG segregation table keeps certain classes apart on one vehicle. Class 5.1 oxidisers and Class 8 corrosives are the pair that comes up most here.
An oxidiser next to a corrosive is not a paperwork problem. If one leaks onto the other the reaction is the reason the rule exists.
Two ways out: segregate on the pallet with a compliant divider and put the run on a licensed driver, or split the drop across two run days. The board will tell you which drops are involved.
Above 1,000 kg or litres of dangerous goods the load is placarded, the vehicle has to be marked and the transport documents travel in the cab.
What to do
- 1 Open the run and read which two classes and which item codes are involved.
- 2 If they can be segregated, mark the load as segregated and check the assigned driver holds a DG licence.
- 3 If they cannot, move one drop to the site's next run day. The site's own run days are on its record.
